History

B & B Consultants, Inc., is a multi-discipline engineering and architectural firm with a special emphasis on environmental engineering and pollution prevention.  Our firm enjoys an excellent reputation in the resort land development field providing professional services to major development projects across the southeastern United States.

In 1984, our president, Dr. Henry M. (Mac) Bugg, purchased the Virginia office operations of Quible and Associates, Inc., and merged it with his B & B Laboratory, Inc., operation. In February 1985, the firm expanded its engineering operations by moving its headquarters to South Hill, Virginia, and expanding its engineering and planning staff. The B & B Laboratory, established in 1974, continues to operate in Chase City, Virginia, and performs water and wastewater analysis, treatability studies, pilot treatment studies and contract operations of wastewater treatment works. In July 2008, B & B began providing architectural services, based out of the South Hill headquarters.

In June 2000, B & B opened a branch office in South Boston, Virginia, to provide more convenient surveying services to that area. The South Boston office has continued to expand, both its staff and its array of services, by offering civil engineering since 2004 and most recently (February 2007) by acquiring Jones and Associates, a local surveying firm.

Our many expansions over the years have been made in order to better serve our clients. While we still provide professional services across the southeast (most recently, the design of a new industrial wastewater pre-treatment plant in Forest City, Arkansas), the growth in southside Virginia and northern North Carolina have created a demand for architectural, civil engineering and surveying that we are striving to meet, by providing expanding professional services, in convenient locations and at competitive prices. After all, good design doesn’t cost, it pays!

About B & B
B & B Consultants, Inc., is made up of professional engineers and architects with special emphasis in the environmental sector. Our firm has enjoyed an excellent reputation in resort land development, providing professional services to major projects throughout the southeastern United States. We have experienced continuing growth in residential, commercial and industrial land development and provide architectural and engineering services to numerous municipalities, especially in the design and operation of water and wastewater treatment works and wastewater collection and potable water distribution systems.

Our firm is growing steadily as a result of our philosophy of providing practical, innovative, economical solutions to our client’s engineering and architectural problems; but we have not outgrown the “personal service” tradition that provides our clients interfacing with the firm’s principal and design staff from the initial project concept to the completion and placing in service of the project. What this means is that you will be communicating initially and throughout your project with the people who are doing the work. We do not, and have never, maintained a senior staff for sales and concept development, only to pass along your project to more junior staff for detailed design execution.

Client satisfaction is paramount to B & B. It has been the basis of our company’s growth and success thus far, and we believe that continuing client satisfaction with our professional performance is the key to our future success.
