OUR HISTORY
As a result of our desire to provide practical, innovative and economical solutions to our clients, B&B Consultants, Inc. has steadily grown over the past 30 years. Here’s a snapshot of how we’ve developed during the past four decades:

1974 – B&B Laboratory, Inc. was established in Chase City, VA by Dr. Henry (Mac) Bugg, P.E., Ph.D., who specializes in water/wastewater engineering.

1984 – Dr. Bugg purchased the Virginia office operations of Quible and Associates, Inc. and merged it with his B&B Laboratory, Inc. operation in Chase City.
​
February 1985 – B&B expands its operations, becoming B&B Consultants, Inc. and moves its headquarters to South Hill, VA where engineering and planning staff are added.
​
1998 – Surveying services moves from Chase City to South Hill headquarters.
​
June 2000 – B&B opens a branch office in South Boston, VA to provide more convenient surveying services to that area.
​
August 2004 – The B&B branch office in South Boston begins offering civil engineering services.
​
February 2007 – B&B Consultants, Inc. acquires Jones and Associates, Inc., a Halifax County-based surveying firm as well as the files of a number of past county surveyors.*
​
July 2008 – B&B begins providing architectural services, based out of its South Hill office.
​
November 2009 – B&B begins offering structural engineering services with the addition of Jimmy Epps, P.E. in the South Boston office.
​
January 2012 – Leadership of B&B Consultants, Inc. is transferred over when the company’s two lead engineers, Sam Carroll and Jimmy Epps, purchase B&B as partners from company founder Dr. Henry (Mac) Bugg. Professional Land Surveyor James E. Temple is named Vice President in the South Boston branch office and Licensed Surveyor Larry E. Hartsoe is named Vice President at the South Hill headquarters.

2011 – B&B adds another licensed engineer to its roster of professionals when employee Brittany Garnett earns her professional engineer (P.E.) designation.
​
May 2014 – The B&B South Boston branch office moves to its new location at 706 Hamilton Boulevard, South Boston. B&B adds concrete testing to its services.
*Past surveyors include Jones and Associates (Walter Jones and Martin Jones), Alfred Carter, E.R. Farmer, and Fred Kabler.
